Columbia College in Columbia, SC, Present Exhibition of Works by Graduating Seniors

Columbia College in Columbia, SC, will present Reflections, an exhibit of works by nine senior art majors in the Goodall Gallery located in the Spears Music/Art Center, from Apr. 5 through May 3, 2002.

The exhibition will include works created in various media including: drawing, graphic design, printmaking, painting, photography and sculpture.

Ashley Lasalle Butler of Saluda, SC, will be one of the nine exhibitors showing their pieces at the Goodall Gallery. She will exhibit her series of oil paintings, which are based on the negative views society has of women. She will graduate in May with a bachelor of arts degree in studio arts and will pursue a career in graphic design and advertising.

Carol Ann Morse of Columbia will present works which consist of five charcoal drawings that encompass the concept of emotional and spiritual transition periods in the course of a lifetime. She chose to use symbolism of nature to project her concept because it relates to her idea of growth maturity. She will graduate in May with a bachelor of fine arts degree in art.

Marina Alexandrovna Ponomarev of Columbia will offer works with the theme of women and nature. Ponomarev's work achieves a dramatic look through the use of black and white. She will graduate in May with a bachelor of arts degree in studio art with a photography emphasis and a double minor in French and business administration.

Rachel Senn Wilson of Columbia, SC, portrays her theme of home by capturing its essence on film. She will graduate in May with a bachelor of arts degree in studio art.

Helen Warren Volk of Florence, SC, will display a series of posters that raise awareness of abuse against women. She will graduate in May with a bachelor arts degree in studio art with a graphic design emphasis.

Laura Ann Conrath of Laurens, SC, will be one of the nine exhibitors showing their pieces in the Goodall Gallery. Her exhibit of charcoal portraits reflects themes of human emotion. She is pursing a bachelor of arts degree in studio art.

Jessica Nicole Baughman of West Columbia, will present works with the theme of purity in nature. She will graduate in May with a bachelor of fine arts degree in studio art with an emphasis in black and white photography and a minor in communications.

April Shannon Lewis of West Columbia, SC, is offering black and white photography which centers on the negative portrayal of women. She will graduate in May with a degree in art.

Elizabeth Erin of West Columbia, will present oil paintings and oil pastel drawings, inspired by faith in God. She chose to use nature images to project this concept. She will graduate in May with a bachelor of arts degree in studio art and a minor in education.
