Lowcountry Heritage Society Presents Santee Spring
The Lowcountry Heritage Society in Charleston, SC, will presents its next event entitled, Santee Spring on Apr. 20 at Hampton Plantation from 1-4pm as the society's 16th event. The event will consist of original new works of poetry and a visual art display. This celebration of the arts is free of charge and includes a tour of the grounds and beverages. Food will be available for purchase.
Participating poets are Dennis Ward Stiles, Carol Furtwangler, Linda Annas Ferguson, Don Geddes, Tom Johnson, Susan Meyers, George Pope, Susan Finch Stevens, Conrad Festa, Harriet Rigney and Charles Waring.
The visual artists participating in this event are Susan Avent, Wes Fredsell, Shannon Smith, Susan Colwell, Jennifer Smith Rogers, Susan Mayfield West, Tripp Smith, Susan Finch Stevens, Lynne Riding, Charles De Antonio and Lese Corrigan.
Join the Society for a beautiful day in the country at the home of Archibald Rutledge, former Poet Laureate of South Carolina. Rutledge's poetry will be read as part of the afternoon's program. The house will be available for touring at a nominal fee.
Hampton Plantation is north of Charleston on Highway 17, eight miles north of the blinking light at McClellanville, SC.
The Lowcountry Heritage Society was created in 1994 and is dedicated to the production of new works of art, music and literature about or inspired by the South Carolina Lowcountry.
