Spencer Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features New Works by Martha Sharp

The Spencer Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present a special exhibit entitled, Passports, featuring recent paintings by Martha Sharp from Apr. 20 through May 11, 2002. The works in the exhibit are based on the artist's recent European travels.

"With her recent travels as resource and inspiration, Martha uses her self-styled imagery in these new works to create subtly hued realms tinted with psychological coloring," says Catherine Brandt-Spencer, co-owner of the Gallery. "Martha's strong following of collectors will be pleased with her personal expressions of her remembrances."

"The Spencer Art Gallery is very pleased to present this exciting exhibit," says Jerry Spencer co-owner of the gallery. "Martha's strong brushwork and color choices illuminate her paintings, creating a dynamic sense of time and place. The viewer becomes captured in the moment she conveys, transported to the place depicted."

"Martha is a local artist who paints plein aire and in the studio. She has a well developed palette, a strong consistent style and a unique ability to capture her subject and express her personal vision."

The gallery and examples of Sharp's artwork can be viewed on-line at (www.charlestonliving.com/spencerartgallery) shortly after the exhibit opens. More of her works and images from this exhibit may be viewed at (www.marthasharp.com) after the opening of the exhibit.
