Murrells Inlet, SC, to Present Annual Blessing of the Inlet Festival
Belin (pronounced Blane with a long "a") United Methodist in Murrells Inlet, SC, is gearing up for the 7th Annual Blessing of the Inlet Festival, which will be hosted on Sat., May 3, 2003. from 9am-4pm. Each year the festival continues to grow and garner regional and statewide attention.
This year's event should prove to be one of the best yet. We will have activities outdoors as well as in the Family Life Center in the case of inclement weather.
There will be something for everyone at the Blessing of the Inlet. Over 50 arts and crafts vendors are expected, showcasing their terrific handmade goods, which include paintings, quilts, baskets, birdhouses, jewelry and more! As with previous festivals there will be a full day of outstanding entertainment featuring dance troops, gospel choirs, contemporary musicians and more. Children are treated to numerous activities including face and hair painting, climbing wall, adrenaline rush, giant slide, moon bounce, and the ever popular "Dunking Tank" where they can take turns trying to "dunk" their friends and especially the adults. The Belin Creative Learning Center will be coordinating all of the children's events.
There will be a great selection
of food from area restaurants prepared and served in a traditional
Lowcountry style.
A highlight of the festival will be the Blessing of the Inlet
Ceremony held at 11:30am. The blessing will be administered by
the Reverend Harold Lewis and The Reverend Sandra Stevens-Poirel
and the choir of Belin United Methodist Church. There is no admission
or parking charge and the event will be held rain or shine.
You are invited to come early and spend the day enjoying the festivities, entertainment, fellowship, and beautiful surroundings. Various proceeds generated from the event are donated to charities and the needy.
