The Charleston Harbor Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features New Works by Sam Park
The Charleston Harbor Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibit of new releases by Sam Park on Apr. 18 & 19, 2003. During the exhibit the artist will be hand embellishing and adding original sketches to his limited-edition canvases.
In addition, Park will be touring the City of Charleston the weekend of the exhibit, gathering inspiration for a series of paintings of the area. The gallery will also be displaying several previously created "Charleston" originals.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1949, Park was a national prodigy by the age of 13. He set the standard for young artists in the Far East, winning numerous competitions hosted by the Mok-Woo Art Society, all at a very young age.
After graduating from Jung Ang University in 1973, Park headed to Paris. While in Europe, Park continued to study and evolve his vision of impressionism and hyperrealism. During this time that Park was commissioned by the President of Cyprus to paint a portrait of the First Lady. The piece hangs in the Presidential Palace today. In addition to commissions and studying, Park established himself in several European galleries, and continues in many of them today.
In 1984, Park participated in the national Olympic-sponsored art competition for the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. With more than two thousand entrants in the competition, Park won and received a Gold Medal.
Park came to the US in 1994, and now lives in Southern California.
