Havens Picture Framing and Gallery in Mt. Pleasant, SC, will feature the paintings of Wilfred Spoon from Apr. 4 - 30, 2003.
Spoon was born in Charlotte, NC. He has enjoyed drawing and painting since he was a small child. He received his BFA from East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC, and his MFA from Parsons School of Design in New York. In 1988 he moved to San Francisco where he continued to develop as an artist and began exhibiting his paintings professionally.
Spoon returned to Charleston, SC, in 1998. Several galleries throughout the southeast have represented his work. His paintings demonstrate a love for the naive as well as his extensive art education. This combination infuses his work with an unexpected clarity in an imagined world.
