South Wind Gallery In Pawleys Island, SC, Features Works by Martha Sharp
The South Wind Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, will present an exhibit from Apr. 5 through May 10, 2003, entitled Figuratively Speaking. The exhibit will feature the most recent body of work from well known Charleston artist, Martha Sharp.
All of the paintings will be figure paintings - specifically female figures in various poses and attitudes, in what is believed to be the first ever exhibit of figure paintings in Pawleys Island history.
Sharp's work in oil has evolved over the past six years into stylistically unique plein-aire landscapes pieces which seem to evoke simultaneous feelings of excitation and serenity. This same dichotomy is also acutely present in her most recent figure work. Her work is seen as a celebration of God's creation of the human figure.
