Fish or Cut Bait Gallery in Edisto Beach, SC, to Present Garden Art
Art in the Garden featuring Brian Mace's whimsical Boondoggle creations, David Edenfield's beautiful stepping stones, and other unique works to enhance your outdoor living space will be held at Fish or Cut Bait Gallery in Edisto Beach, SC, from May 8 - 26, 2004.
Brian Mace, creator of playful, painted steel Boondoggles ranging from fantastical hedgehogs and peacocks to colorful flowers and flamingos, discovered his talent for steel when he took a welding course in high school in Allentown, PA. After touring the country and welding as much as possible, Mace settled in Melbourne, FL, in 1980 and began devoting 100% of his time to developing his art. He began participating in art shows and has won numerous awards for his work including Best of Show. In 1993, Mace had a six-month show at the Melbourne Art Museum (FL) that included his very first abstract piece. His work can now be seen in galleries throughout Florida, Alabama and South Carolina. Mace remarks, "Each piece I make is unique and individual and I put a little bit of me in every one."
David Edenfield, a native of Jacksonville, FL, spent 17 years in the golfing business before discovering his wonderful talent for using stained glass to create lovely, yet functional stepping stones. Edenfield, who uses only materials from the United States, has spent a long time perfecting the process. He hand cuts all of the stained glass to make intriguing designs which include turtles, dragonflies, hummingbirds, alligators, herons, dolphins, frogs, palmettos and many more. Edenfield and his wife, Robin, have a house and studio in an undisturbed hammock on St. Simon's Island, GA. Edenfield states, "The designs are inspired by our beautiful, natural surroundings. The models for our work live in the ponds, salt marsh, and majestic oaks surrounding our home. Our goal is to help you create a functional path through your garden that brings a smile to your face as you follow the path."
