Urban Market at NoDa Premieres this Spring in Charlotte, NC
The European-inspired "Urban Market at NoDa" premieres Apr. 30 through May 2, 2004, in Charlotte, NC's Trendy NoDa District.
An established Atlanta, GA, tradition (as the
Urban Market on Means Street), the market now finds a second home
at 2901 N. Davidson Street at the historic Highland Mill. The
Urban Market presents a wide array of vendors who offer an intriguing
variety of merchandise for the home, the garden and the person.
Attendees delight in specialties imported from Europe, Africa
and Latin America, plus local and regional finds.
The hand-selected collection of antiques, art, accessories and
eccentricities include French and Swedish antiques, fine art,
folk art, artist-designed fine jewelry, handcrafted soaps and
bath products, handmade bags and totes, baskets woven in South
Africa and gourmet specialty items.
Set in a turn of the 20th century industrial
complex, Highland Mill was among the south's most well known mills.
Opened as one of Charlotte's first electric mills, it served as
the architectural model for the textile industry. Currently under
renovation, Highland Mill is listed on the national Registry of
Historic Places.
The Urban Market's unique flavor blends beautifully with the vibe
of the historic landmark's rustic urban charm displayed in exposed
brick walls, wooden timbers and hardwood floors. Bursting with
stalls that offer unique one-stop shopping, the market utilizes
a portion of the old mill as well as tents outside the building.
The Urban Market at NoDa runs Friday, Apr. 30 - Sunday, May 2,
2004. Fri.-Sat., 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-4pm. Admission is $3
per person. In lieu of the entrance fee, guests may donate a new
children's book, which will be distributed to local charities.
Parking is plentiful and complimentary.
