Hidell Brooks Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Christopher Terry

Hidell Brooks Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is presenting the second solo exhibition for Christopher Terry entitled, Artifacts & Interiors. The exhibit will be on view through Apr. 30. 2005.

Terry is currently a Professor of Art at Utah State University in Logan, UT, where he has been teaching for over seventeen years. He received his MFA in painting from the University of Wisconsin. Terry recently was awarded his second Fulbright Scholar Award for teaching and research in Germany.

Terry's subjects invariably appear as simple, straightforward and uncluttered scenes of domestic calm that reside squarely and solidly in place. His empty rooms are dominated by tables draped with white linens and perfectly placed still lifes. The focus of the paintings is the selection of images, the use of light and color relationships. Terry attempts to build a rhythm in his work that recalls the pace of ritual and dreams as our subconscious asks the question about who or what has been here, or better still, who or what will be here.
