Spring and Summer 2005 at Winthrop University Galleries in Rock Hill, SC
Winthrop University Galleries in Rock Hill, SC, kicks off its spring and summer activities with The 17th Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, on view from Apr. 11 through June 24, 2005, in Rutledge Gallery. This year's juror is Melissa Post, Curator of Craft + Design at the Mint Museums in Charlotte, NC.
Also opening Apr. 11 are two Master
of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions including the fine metal work
of Kaminer Haislip in the Elizabeth Dunlap Patrick Gallery from
Apr. 11 through May 9, 2005. Adam Walls MFA Thesis Exhibition
titled, Paltoon, will also open Apr. 11 on the grounds
of the University near McLaurin Hall. Walls' large-scale painted
steel "Platoon" series is scheduled to continue through
Aug. 10, 2005. Walls and Haislip will present lectures about their
work Apr. 12 at 7pm in Rutledge Auditorium.
Also on the campus grounds near Rutledge Building and McLaurin
Hall is Disruption: Undergraduate and Graduate Sculpture.
The new and innovative works from Winthrop sculpture area headed
by Professor of Art and Design Shaun Cassidy will open Apr. 11
and continue through May 9, 2005.
In the Lewandowski Student Gallery, through Apr. 15, is an exhibition of art and design Master of Fine Arts candidates titled MFA Works in Progress. Finally, opening Apr. 25 and continuing through Sept. 2, 2005, in the Lewandowski Student Gallery is the student work from Visual Communication Design.
