Art League of Henderson County Features Works by Elaine Bailey

The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, is presenting the exhibit, Fresh Florals, featuring works by guest artist Elaine Bailey, on view in the Grace Etheredge Room at Opportunity House from Apr. 2 through May 5, 2006. Bailey says, "My passion is always to work through color finding the essence of the subject as I see it."

A native of Ohio, and now a resident of Brevard, Bailey has traveled extensively. She has taught painting in two colleges, and taught many specialty workshops throughout the US and Canada. Her late father, M. Starrett Wetzel, a renowned artist of the Bakersfield, CA, area, influenced her work. She studied privately for two years in Rome, Italy with Alberto Conti, and has taken workshops with many notable American artists.

While flowers are Bailey's forte, she also exhibits expertise in other subject matter. She works in oil, watercolor and charcoal, as well as pen and ink, pencil and pastels. Passion for color is clearly evident in Bailey's paintings and in her style that is definitely her own. Her artwork appears in many fine collections throughout Europe and North America.
