Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Celebrates Grand Opening with Works by Geoffrey Johnson & Kim Schuessler
The Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will mark the grand opening of their new gallery space and feature two artists' works. The contemporary art provider represents more than twenty different nationally and regionally acclaimed artists but will showcase the work of Geoffrey Johnson and Kim Schuessler during the gallery's grand opening on Apr. 21. The exhibition will remain on display until May 31, 2006.
Since 1998, Shain Gallery has worked with homeowners and corporations in choosing art for their homes and businesses. Named "Best Conservative Artwork" in 2002 by Charlotte Magazine, the gallery is open to the public and welcomes clients who are just beginning to collect art and those who have been collecting for years. Owner Gabrielle (Gaby) Shain-Bryson believes the new location will afford clients a more comprehensive space in which to view the art available for purchase.
"We are delighted with the new location and how we're able to use the space to feature all of our artists," said Shain-Bryson. "The space provides a really nice backdrop for the artists' work and makes it easy for collectors and art-lovers alike to come in and see what we have to offer."
In addition to providing artwork to homeowners and businesses, Shain Gallery also supplies the historic Duke Mansion with many pieces of the art that adorn their walls. Cyndee Patterson of the Duke Mansion says one reason they chose the Shain Gallery was due to the array of artists that have pieces of a size that match the needs of the facility, which has many large wall spaces.
"From large to small pieces the wonderful art enhances people's experiences at the mansion," said Patterson. "Gabrielle Shain-Bryson listens and understands that art is something that people react to differently - she finds your style and it is always perfect." The Duke mansion is a historic inn and meeting place hosting numerous events throughout the year. "Each person seems to find the piece that connects to them," said Patterson. "It's just been a wonderful partnership."
Joan and Robert Zimmerman were introduced to artist Geoffrey Johnson's work by Shain-Bryson four years ago. "Gaby was convinced that Johnson's work was perfect for our home," said Joan Zimmerman. "She personally placed, delivered and hung the piece we were contemplating and we were hooked." The Zimmerman's now have a significant collection of Johnson's work.
Shain Gallery represents a diverse group of artists with a wide variety of themes and colors. Both artists featured at the grand re-opening event are well-known in the art community with a healthy following of collectors. Johnson's work can be seen in corporate and private collections including Turner Broadcasting, Bell South Corporation, Wachovia Bank, and the Brenau University Museum in Gainesville, Georgia. Kim Schuessler's collectors span from Hawaii to the East Coast.
