Keith Norval
Keith Norval presents Chirp, Squawk, Cluck,
a new series of oil paintings exploring birds as subject matter.
Chicks, chickens, roosters, and square birds have appeared in
Norval's work over the years. Using simple shapes and a whimsical
style, the paintings are in-depth studies of the birds' personalities.
Norval was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He received his BFA from
the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2000 before relocating
to Raleigh. His paintings feature bright colors, lots of animals,
and some businessmen. Norval works in his studio at Artspace and
teaches painting and printmaking at the Pullen Arts Center, Raleigh.
His work is found in public and private collections in the United
States as well as Norway, Japan, England, and South Africa.
