Gallery 80808 in Columbia, SC, Offers Annual Exhibition for Artista Vista
Gallery 80808 in Columbia, SC, will present the annual Spring Exhibition, featuring the work of the Vista Studio artists: Ethel Brody, Pat Callahan, Stephen Chesley, Heidi Darr-Hope, Jeff Donovan, Pat Gilmartin, Robert Kennedy, Susan Lenz, Sharon Licata, Yvonne Ruff, Laura Spong, David Yaghjian, Don Zurlo. The exhibit opens on Apr. 24 and continues through May 8, 2007.
In this annual exhibition, the 13 talented studio artists will exhibit their latest creations paintings, ceramic and stone sculpture, fiber art, life drawings as well as mixed media collages and constructions. Diversity of vision is what you will experience here. Along with the opportunity to view a diverse range of innovative artwork, you will also be able to get an inside look at each of the artist's studios. To view the work and then see the space in which it is created is a unique opportunity.
The following is some of what you will find this Artista Vista. Don Zullo is doing an acrylic series with titles that look like they are well devised computer passwords. Two examples are 8fla14 and 583d3b. David Yaghjian is continuing his aged men series with High Note. Sharon Licata has ventured into granite with Inner Beauty and invites counting with Diamonds in the Rough. Susan Lenz has some new burned out embroidery pieces including In Box XIX. Pat Gilmartin has two very different pieces, a classical figurative one and a wonderful whimsy piece called In Flight. Stephen Chesley will be showing a number of his landscapes, including Hawk and Fireflies Pines. Ethel Brody has two large acrylic paintings Spheres and Try Again.
Vista Studios provides studio space to 13 artists and gallery space to community artists. Gallery 80808, one of the premier art spaces in Columbia, is a unique concept in galleries. At various times during the year, the exhibition area is utilized for shows presented by the artists of Vista Studios, whose space the gallery shares. During alternate times, the gallery is available for rent to other artists as a high quality location for local, regional, or national art shows. With new shows coming in regularly, Gallery 80808 presents up to 25 different exhibitions a year.
