Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Stanley Boxer
Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is pleased to be presenting works by New York native Stanley Boxer (1926-2000), a painter and sculptor best known for his richly textured canvases. This exhibition, Paintings and Works on Paper, features over twenty paintings and works on paper, on view through May 12, 2007.
Boxer studied at the Art Students League and
began exhibiting in New York in 1953. He was awarded a Guggenheim
Fellowship in 1975 and was elected to the National Academy of
Design in 1993. Boxer has been honored with numerous solo museum
exhibitions across the United States, including a 1978 drawing
retrospective at the Mint Museum of Art and a 45-year retrospective
organized by the Rose Art Museum in Massachusetts.
Boxer's work can be found in the permanent collections of many prestigious institutions, such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the San Francisco Museum of Art and the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, among many others.
