The North Charleston Cultural Arts Department in North Charleston, SC, Features Works by Katie Mixon & Lauren Preller
Works by Katie Mixon and Lauren Preller will
be on view at the North Charleston City Gallery, located at the
North Charleston Performing Arts Center and Charleston Area Convention
Center in North Charleston, SC, from Apr. 2-30, 2007. Both artists
have a studio at 10 Storehouse Row, located in the Navy Yard at
Noisette (former Charleston Naval Base).
Katie Mixon's work is created in many layers of oil and oil pastel
on canvas with fluid movement, energy, and texture. She strives
for her work to "conjure up emotions and recollection not
recognition" and simultaneously references both the microscopic
and cosmic.
Lauren Preller
Lauren Preller's exhibit entitled, The Color and Texture of Charleston, will be comprised of prints on archival canvas with ultrachrome inks. She photographs images around Charleston and digitally manipulates them into abstract visual and tactile representations.
