The Arts Company in Seneca, SC, Features Works by Dede Norungolo and Kimberly Jane Simms

For more than two years, one photographer and one poet talked of combining their work. Now Dede Norungolo and Kimberly Jane Simms reveal the fabric of their discussions by offering the exhibit, Lindy Lee: Weaving Photography and Poetry, featuring Norungolo's images of the Courtenay Mill located in Newry, SC, and Simms' poignant poetry based on the persona Lindy Lee. The exhibit will continue through May 4, 2007, on view at The Arts Company in Seneca, SC.

Norungolo, whose photographs have been featured in Sandlapper Magazine and various other regional publications, classifies herself as "an amateur with high hopes of expanding skills" through study and exploration. The Greenville, SC, native has enjoyed past exhibits at Nelson Fine Arts Center in Johnson City, TN; the Fran Hanson Center located at the SC Botanical Gardens, Clemson, SC; Patina on the Alley in Seneca; and, at WestEnd Dark Room in Greenville.

Norungolo has been recognized with the Jodi Putnam Merit Award for her piece, Newry, which was juried into the 2005 Anderson County Arts Council show. Architecture and nature photography has earned her recognition from the Tennessee Press Association, Keep Oconee Beautiful Association and the Blue Ridge Arts Center. Simms and Norungolo enjoyed additional credits in the 2006 Kakalak: An Anthology of Carolina Poets.

Kimberly Jane Simms, also from Greenville, SC, is an award-winning "stage and page" poet who recently earned a Master of Arts from Clemson University and serves as the director of Wits End Poetry, a nonprofit organization focused on the promotion of poetry and advocacy for poets. She has appeared on stage with renowned performers and has been featured on Turner South's My South and SC-ETV's Your Day. Her publishing credits include The Millennium Sampler of South Carolina Poetry, Kakalak, The Asheville Poetry Revie, and The Blue Collar Review. A collection of 15 of her early poems appears in Quintet from Ninety-Six Press.
