FYI Space in Greenville, SC, Offers Inaugural Exhibition

Furman University will sponsor its first art exhibit, ...6, 7, 8, 9..., in the new FYI Space in downtown Greenville, SC, on view through Apr. 11, 2008.

This inaugural art exhibit will showcase the paintings in mixed media of eight members of an advanced adult critique group under the auspices of the Greenville County Museum of Art's Center for Museum Education. The group, led by Furman art associate professor Michael Brodeur, meets monthly to view and analyze art work by the group's members.

Members of the group are Drew Fields, Georgia Harrison, Pat Kilburg, David McCurry, Anne Merchant, Carole Tinsley, Judith Woodward and Irene Zimmer.

Brodeur is a painter and draughtsman who earned his BA in art at the University of New Hampshire and his MFA in painting/drawing from Boston University. He teaches courses in foundations, painting and drawing at Furman University. His work is in the collections of the Emrys Foundation, Greenville, SC, Columbia College in Columbia, SC; LaMar Dodd Art Center at LaGrange College, LaGrange, GA, the Greenville County Museum of Art, the South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina State Museum. Brodeur founded and chaired the Visual Arts Department at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities.
