Himal Home Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Han Cashion
Himal Home Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present
an exhibit entitled, Meditation in Color, featuring paintings
by Han Cashion. The exhibit will be on view from May 6 through
June 10, 2000.
Noted for her bold yet sensitive and sophisticated usage of colors,
Cashion is a highly motivated and thoughtful artist. Meditation
in Color, is an exhibition in which the artist explores a
dimension of human spirituality. Utilizing contemporary visual
language, Cashion paints from her mind using the wealth of experience
and emotions stored in its depths.
Depicted with expressive colors and strong shapes, Cashion's paintings offer not only an aesthetic pleasure but also convey a deep sense of tranquility. She uses watermedia: watercolor, gouache, and acrylics on paper or acrylics on canvas. Cashion is the recipient of numerous awards from regional to international juried exhibitions.
When asked to comment about her work, Cashion offered the following statement, "Continuously searching for a new expression of my artistic vision, I enjoy the process of painting: generating concepts, organizing design elements, and creating a piece of artwork. Whether my paintings are inspired by nature, architecture, figure, or by personal experiences, my underlying intention is to draw a dimension of spirituality of human beings. Using simplified shapes and expressive colors to create emotional impact, I aspire for my paintings to evoke aesthetic and intellectual pleasure, spiritual peace and tranquility to viewers. Layering colors, I achieve a richness and subtlety in my works. I try to balance restrained organization with unbounded intuition in the process of painting."
