Durham Arts Council in Durham, NC, Features Works by Grace Li Wang

Nature: Impressions of the Soul, by Cary, NC, artist, Grace Li Wang will open in the Allenton Gallery of the Durham Arts Council, in Durham, NC, on May 3 and continue through June 4, 2001.

Wang will be exhibiting a variety of her impressionistic nature paintings. These paintings examine the connection between Nature and Soul. Her purpose is to convey her impressions of nature through intense colors. These intense colors are her visual language allowing her to express emotions that connect nature with the spiritual force of the soul. "The soul immersed in the splendors of colors and nature feeds me peace and bliss. If the soul of humankind is the same, then I hope we all can find ourselves in the same profound state of joy and enlightenment," says Wang.

Wang was born in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China. She arrived in the United States in 1964. She graduated from the School of Design at the North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Environmental Design Degree. After working in the Design and Art Director capacity for corporations such as Ericsson, Black & Decker, and Family Health International, Wang now works as a full-time artist in her Durham studio. Her work has been exhibited and collected by private and public sectors internationally and locally.
