May Issue 2001
Wells Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Group Exhibition
A trio of talented artists prepare to take center stage as The Wells Gallery, in Charleston, SC, presents three artists, each of whom draws on the beauty of everyday life as inspiration for their unique creations. The exhibition features a blend of Impressionism and Realism with works by Joseph Cave, Jeff Sojka, and Rhett Thurman. The exhibition debuts May 4 and continues through May 18.
Rhett Thurman
Considered one of Charleston's premiere genre painters, Rhett Thurman uses bold strokes and vivid color to illuminate her subjects. From local rooftops, a rain-soaked street, or renowned blacksmith Phillip Simmons, Thurman's work creates movement with light. A full time artist for 25 years, Thurman was honored to have Simmons sit for her and considers his iron work magical.
Joseph Cave
Joseph Cave's work conveys a world of vitality and color. Trained as an abstract expressionist, Cave paints from life experiences and every stroke captures a fleeting moment. His work invites the viewer into his idyllic compositions of exotic florals, rural scenes and nautical landscapes.
Jeff Sojka
Jeff Sojka has traveled the globe to capture the many moods of the sea. Self-taught, his technique incorporates heavy brushstrokes and bold color to create a timeless impression. From the glow of the setting sun to the fury of a winter sky, Sojka's seascape works are aesthetically emotional.
Located at 103 Broad Street, on the corner
of King and Broad Street, The Wells Gallery is Charleston's resource

The Wells Gallery is a member of the Charleston Fine Art Dealers
