Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Exhibitions by Stanley Bielen & Emily Wilson
Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is pleased to announce two new exhibitions. It will be the third solo exhibition for Emily Wilson and the gallery is pleased to introduce Stanley Bielen with his first solo exhibition. Both will be on view through June 8.
Emily Wilson
Wilson's wall sculptures are the seamless integration of intricately hand-carved pieces of basswood upon an equally intricate steel wire armature. Representing flora, fauna and other aspects of nature, each wooden element is airbrushed with layers of transparent color and whispering linear patterns. For this exhibition, Wilson has also created a sculpture unlike any she has ever made before. Made to suspend from a wire, this spherical sculpture allows the viewer to fully experience the lyrical nature of Wilson's work.
Wilson's sculptures have been included in over thirty exhibitions across the Southeast. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Montgomery Museum of Art and the Huntsville Museum of Art, as well as many corporate and private collections.
Stanley Bielen
Born in Rzeszow, Poland, Stanley Bielen studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts from 1976 until 1980. He currently resides in Philadelphia, where he works full-time as a painter. Bielen has been represented in many exhibitions along the east coast, and his work can be found in such prestigious public collections as the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
Stanley Bielen paints still lifes in the loose, brushy style of the Impressionists, harkening back to the work of Edouard Manet and Pierre Renoir. Like the Impressionists, Bielen is not interested in achieving photographic accuracy and detail. Instead, he translates a simple grouping of objects, such as flowers or fruit, into an abstracted vision all his own.
