Print Studio South in Charleston, SC, Offers 10th Anniversary Print Portfolio
Print Studio South in Charleston, SC, exhibits
artists' proofs from their 10th Anniversary Portfolio entitled,
New Views of The Lowcountry, from May 1 through June 30,
2002. This show is comprised of seven fine art prints and three
black and white photographs chosen for this year's portfolio project.
The jurors were Linda Fantuzzo, a painter who studied at the Pennsylvania
Academy of The Fine Arts, Tom Starland, editor of Carolina Arts
newspaper and Michael Tyzack, artist and Chair of the Studio Art
Department, College of Charleston. The portfolio is a fundraising
project of Print Studio South, South Carolina's only open access
fine art printmaking facility dedicated to educating artists and
the public about fine art prints and print techniques.

The artists chosen for this years portfolio were Kristi Ryba, Thomas Hedge, Mary Walker, Grace Humphreys, William Michaels, Pat Van de Graaf, Leslie Pierce, Daniel Grant, Bernadette Humphrey and Anne Stone. The print mediums range from etching, relief and mezzotint prints to black and white photography.
The theme and title of the portfolio, New Views of the Lowcountry is represented by a diverse group of images. Grace Humphrey's mezzotint offers a sensitive portrayal of Charleston blacksmith, Phillip Simmons. Pat Van de Graaf's "Dusky Marsh" scene is a softly rendered etching with aqautint, a classic lowcountry landscape.
The portfolio which offers prints by ten SC
artists will be produced in a limited edition of thirty. The portfolio
is available for the reasonable price of $295. Come see the exhibition
and end up asking yourself, "How many do I want?" Print
