An Appalachian Summer Festival in Boone, NC, Offers 2004 Season Line-Up
An Appalachian Summer Festival will again celebrate the "fine art of summer," with an eclectic array of music, dance, theatre and visual arts events scheduled from July 1 31, 2004. Held on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, the multi-arts festival also celebrates its 20th anniversary this summer.
Highlighting the anniversary season will be performances by the Atlanta Ballet, the Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra, pianist André Watts, North Carolina Symphony, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, PDQ Bach, pianist Peter Serkin, Doc Watson and Dirk Powell Band, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Robin and Linda Williams, the Broyhill Chamber Ensemble, and the Outdoor Fireworks Concert featuring the Platters, Coasters and Drifters. The Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, as well as exhibition programs and workshops presented by the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts comprise the festival's dynamic offerings in the visual arts.
An Appalachian Summer Festival has been named as one of the "top twenty events in the southeast" by the Southeast Tourism Society for more than a decade, and is highly regarded for the breadth and quality of its innovative artistic programs, as well as the scenic beauty of its mountain setting-a combination which appeals to residents and visitors alike.
For tickets, information, or to request a season brochure, contact the Festival Box Office at 800/841-ARTS (2787) or visit (www.appsummer.org).
