Fish or Cut Bait Gallery on Edisto Island, SC, Offers Works by Kathy Konduras, Thomas Keim, and Chris Rowley
Fish or Cut Bait Gallery on Edisto Island,
SC, will feature three artists, painter, Kathy Konduras, steel
sculptor, Thomas Keim, and ceramic artist, Chris Rowley, and their
creations featuring fish in a new show, Fish out of Water.
The show opens on May 29 and runs through June 30, 2004.
Thomas J. Keim
Thomas Keim creates his fabulous works of art out of steel with abstract shapes and color. Keim says that in his work "color is paramount and will put in motion a process of action and reaction. As each image is cut and burned into the steel, the background and image become one." Keim is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design. He has won numerous awards for his work and has had many exhibitions throughout the southeast.
Kathy Konduros
Kathy Konduros is a multi-talented artist from
Columbia, SC. She studied studio art at Winthrop University and
the University of South Carolina in addition to studying under
many local artists. She has been a professional model and has
designed a line of colorful children's casual clothing that has
been presented at numerous civic and charitable events including
the Governor's Mansion. In the past few years her art has focused
on still life, animals, decorative glassware, and purses. Konduros
is currently creating fish in a variety of mediums. Her work is
featured in galleries in North and South Carolina.
Chris Rowley
Chris Rowley is the creator of fabulous porcelain
fish such as the Stoplight Parrot, Crown Butterfly, Emperor Angel,
and Florida Fish. She developed from her father's influence at
an early age a deep love and kinship of nature, especially fish.
Rowley has been scuba diving for years studying the fish and underwater
sea life. Her fish are all hand formed from a combination of white
stoneware and porcelain. She has worked for many years on her
glaze technique that has produced the original glazes she now
uses with a high fire oxidation process. Rowley is represented
in galleries throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and
Hawaii.
