Crescent Café Opens at SC State Museum in Columbia, SC

The much-anticipated opening of the Crescent Café at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia, SC, has finally arrived.

The house menu offers a variety of baked goods, juices, coffee, hot chocolate and tea. Lunchtime offerings include deli sandwiches and alternating daily soups, as well as grilled chicken salads and sandwiches. (Topping it off) And let's not forget the house specialty: spectacular fudge, handmade on-site.

"From site planning to the final decorative touches," Director of Revenue Scottie Ash says "It's been a long time in the planning, but we're very happy and excited that we can offer this new service to our guests and Friends." With decorations inspired by early 20th century diners, the café features enlarged and framed reproductions of local postcards from the 1920s to 1940s from the museum collection.

Now families can take a break with a soda and hot dog in between exploring the many educational and hands-on exhibits at the museum. Or, catch up with colleagues for a quick lunch in an atmosphere that is unique and convenient to downtown Columbia, with plenty of free parking.

The café also is cozy enough to gather with friends and a cup of coffee to chat about the captivating art of the exhibit, Panorama, currently on display in the Libscomb Gallery, or any of the museum's other fascinating exhibits.

The Crescent Café will operate from 10am-4pm, Tue.-Sat., and 1-4pm on Sun. The café is located on the second floor mezzanine of the State Museum.

For further information contact the Museum at 803/898-4921 or at (www.museum.state.sc.us).
