The Art Asylum in Bluffton, SC, Offers Works by Lillian B. Heyward
The Art Asylum in Bluffton, SC, will present the exhibit, Views from the Bluff, featuring works by Lillian Byrne Heyward, on view from May 5 - 31, 2006.
Heyward began her serious study of art at the High Museum School in Atlanta, GA. As an undergraduate, she studied at the Philadelphia College of Art, majoring in illustration. She graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Graphic Design from The Portland School of Art in Portland, ME.
Recent shows include: First Annual Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival Invitational Exhibit, Bluffton, Oct. 2005; Yin Yang Voyage: A Visual Narrative of Fear, Faith, Love, and Letting Go, The Charles Street Gallery, Beaufort, SC, Nov. 2004 and at Heyward House Historic Center, Bluffton, Feb. 2005.
Heyward's work can also be viewed at: Society of Bluffton Artists, Bluffton and Charles Street Gallery, Beaufort, SC.
Heyward opened Classic Signs and Designs in Beaufort, SC, in 1983. Her signs have won repeated awards from Main Street USA and have been included in such publications as Sign Design: Contemporary Graphic Identity and Graphis: Logo Design 5.
Heyward has also worked on over a dozen major motion pictures including; Forrest Gump, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Forces of Nature and most recently The Notebook.
In 2002, Heyward received her Masters in Illustration from Syracuse University under the guidance of Murray Tinkelman renowned American Illustrator. She was the guest curator for the Bernard DAndrea Exhibit at the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA, in the Summer of 2005.
Currently Heyward is working on her upcoming exhibits as well as several children's books; a calendar of the animals of the May River, and a line of note cards featuring paintings of her Bluffton chickens.
Heyward lives and works in her historic home overlooking the May River in Bluffton with her husband George.
