Artists' Guild of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, SC, Features Works by Edythe Stephenson Wise
The Artists' Guild of Spartanburg will present
an exhibition of paintings by Edythe Stephenson Wise in the Guild
Gallery at Spartanburg Arts Center in Spartanburg, SC, from May
2 - 29, 2006.
Wise, who grew up in Savannah, GA, and began her career as an
illustrator for E. I. DuPont de Nemours, has been described as
"a realist, an impressionist, a classicist, a blender of
originality and tradition." The show will feature oils and
acrylics in a variety of subjects, including portraits and figures.
Wise attended Savannah College of Art and Design
and studied sculpture and printmaking at Converse College. She
is a member of the Artists' Guild of Spartanburg, the South Carolina
Watercolor Society and the National League of American Pen Women.
Her paintings are included in corporate as well as private collections.
