Art League of Henderson County, NC, Features Works by Sue Russell
The Art League of Henderson County will present
the exhibit, Encounters, By Chance and by Choice, featuring
works in watercolor and mixed media by Guest Artist Sue Russell,
from May 7 - 31, 2006, in the Grace Etheredge Room at Opportunity
House in Hendersonville, NC.
Russell's art is inspired by experiences from her life. She
captures images in spontaneous sketches, distilling the essence
of her experience into expressive watercolor, acrylic and mixed
media paintings. Some of her work is recognizable; some is
abstract. Each piece is characterized by the spontaneity
of a moment - an encounter by chance or by choice, emboldened
by strong design, vibrant color and emotional response.
Russell has a BFA in graphic design from the
University of Georgia and a MA in Art/Art Education from Arizona
State University. She and her husband, Padgett Cleveland,
lived and worked in Saudi Arabia before traveling around the world
on a two-year backpack adventure that led to 14 years as residents
of a small German village. They moved back to the USA in 1999
with a cache of unforgettable experiences, sketches and ideas.
