Hand in Hand Gallery in Flat Rock, NC, Features Works by Dave Goldman, Carol Weeks and Dory Brown

Hand in Hand Gallery in Flat Rock, NC, will present the paintings of Dave Goldman, photographs of Carol Weeks and the jewelry of Dory Brown from Apr. 11 through June 2, 2006.

Dave Goldman and Carol Weeks are a husband and wife team living in Pisgah Forest. Goldman's oil and acrylic landscape paintings are imaginary scenes loosely based on perceptions made during his travels. His conceptual work is an artistic extension of his life as a naturalist, previously pursuing a profession in biology and ecology.

Weeks' award-winning photographs consist mainly of leaves and architecture. She enjoys creating a sense of nostalgia by capturing natural light on these forms. Color and design are what attract her the most and she shoots whatever catches her eye. Weeks' "paintbrush" consists of a 35mm Pentax and Fujichrome film (ASA 50). Her subjects provide the 'paint' and this slow speed film captures the true colors. Traditional, unaltered photography satisfies the purist in her.

Dory Brown

Dory Brown offers her "futuristically archaic" jewelry as a celebration of WomanSpirit; the Creative Spirit. Silver and gold, and occasionally copper, come together in function and purposeful symbolism, giving each of her creations a unique story to add to its stunning beauty. The time Brown takes to dwell on technique is evident in her work, which is currently carried in over 25 galleries around the country. Brown lives on a farm in Hot Springs, NC, works with her husband and son and is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
