Hilton Head Art Gallery on Hilton Head Island, SC, Features Works by Tina B. Fripp
The Hilton Head Art Gallery on Hilton Head
Island, SC, will be presenting works by Tina B. Fripp, in the
exhibit, Southern Spirits, on view from May 4 - 26, 2006.
Fripp, an award winning artist who was raised in Savannah, GA,
is known widely for her pen and ink renditions of Lowcountry outdoor,
wildlife and historic scenes.
This art show will portray Fripp's love and appreciation of the
beauty here in the deep south while she travels about in her Kayak
along the marshes and creeks, breathing in the wildlife and eye
candy of the local sunsets, sunrises and storms in between. New
in her career is the addition of sculptural wood murals, life
size egrets, herons and palmetto trees in art form bringing the
low country landscape into your home. The egret gazing through
the marsh grass....the heron hiding and the tall palmetto spirit
guarding the turtle eggs, epitomizes her intricate drawing style
with transparent acrylic brush strokes giving life to her new
mural art. These pieces are then cut out with the assistance of
partner artist Dan Brown and can stand alone as sculpture or a
3-d wall hanging.
"I love painting large," says Fripp. She has created
4 x 8 foot murals for the Players Club of Hilton Head and a corner
mural, Turtle Watch, of a Hunting Island beach night scene
for Mars the Real Estate Store location on Hilton Head at the
Crossings Center as part of the Coastal Discovery Museum display
there. Fripp has also been commissioned to create a wrap around
scene of the marsh, at Lucy Creek.
Her first love being the pen, Fripp has many new illustrative
ink/blendings that convey to the viewer her kayak wanderings along
the creeks and rivers nearby. These images are created with intense
intricate drawing with various pens and sizes, then painterly
brushing indelible inks and acrylic airbrush inks to blend watercolor
like effects into the illustration.
Fripp's work can be found in galleries in Savannah, Tybee Island and Richmond Hill, GA; and in Beaufort, Hilton Head Island, Port Royal and Seneca, SC.
