Waterfront Gallery Artists Head for Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Juried Art Exhibition 2006 in Charleston, SC
The 2006 Piccolo Spoleto Festival begins
its 27th season on May 26 and runs through June 11, 2006. That
is amazing in itself, but add to it, a band of ten artists who
collectively have exhibited more than 150 years at the 22 year
run of the Festival's Outdoor Juried Art Exhibition.

Susan Colwell, Sudie Payne Daves, Dixie Dugan,
Bob Graham, Daryl Knox, Jeannette Cooper Nicholson, Chris Ritsch,
Amelia Rose Smith, Karen Vournakis and Detta Cutting Zimmermann
have something else to share. They all have been award winners
at the prestigious art festival. Ritsch and Knox each have twice
won the Best of Show Mayor's Purchase Award.
A journey through Marion Square in Charleston to visit "The
Ten" will take the viewer from abstract expressionism, to
realism, impressionism and modified realism. Their work is characterized
by their own unique style and diversity of expression. Look for
them near the fountain on the Meeting Street side of the park
and near the John C. Calhoun statue. "We are all seasoned
professionals who take our careers very seriously," says
Jeannette Cooper Nicholson. "However, you will be welcomed
into our tents as if we were welcoming you into our homes. Actually,
these tents become our home away from home for 17 days."
Amelia Rose Smith follows up saying, 'Occasionally, between our
socializing we do manage to sell paintings and win awards."
The Ten are affiliated with the Waterfront
Gallery located on East Bay Street in historic Charleston.
