Artis Fine Art Opens in Winston-Salem, NC, with Exhibit Featuring Works by Connie Winters and George E. Thompson
Artis Fine Art in Winston-Salem, NC, presents a grand opening show featuring new works by Connie Winters and George E. Thompson, on view from May 2 to June 30, 2007. The paintings will be galleried at Noble's Grille; works can be viewed while dining or sipping a glass of fine wine. The unique setting offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy fine art paired with fine wine and the culinary artistry of Chef Jimmy Nobles.
Elizabeth Davis, owner of Artis Fine Art represents Margaret Somers Rich, Catherine Schwartz, George E. Thompson, Connie Winters, Darren Young and Ken Wallin. The grand opening show features the work by Winters and Thompson, both popular impressionist painters.
Winters continues to be a strong influence on the art scene throughout the Southeastern United States and beyond. A featured artist in the current Feb./Mar, 2007 issue of International Artist Magazine, she is renowned for her distinctive approach to impressionism and explosive use of color. Her subject matter consists of places and things that are part of the shared life experience, allowing the viewer to bring his or her own personal experience to each work.
Thompson has earned numerous awards and honors over the course of his career spanning over twenty-five years. Thompson has earned the title, "master pastelist", a designation held by only seventy-five artists in the world. An extremely versatile artist, Thompson's subject matter includes landscapes, genre paintings and cityscapes. Often Thompson will work from a black and white period photograph to recreate his vivid street scenes illustrating life in world-class cities such as Paris and New York at the turn of the last century. He is also an accomplished portrait painter; his detailed depictions truly capture the personality of his subject. He is now taking commissions.
