Asheville Area Arts Council in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Rob O'Sheeran
The Asheville Area Arts Council in Asheville,
NC, will present an exhibition of works by Rob O'Sheeran in the
Council's Back Gallery, on view from May 4 - 25, 2007.
Asheville Area Arts Council
Born in Williamsburg, VA, O'Sheeran has been an artist since childhood. He received a formal art education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. He now resides with his wife, Sarah, in West Asheville.
Recently voted one of the best artists in Western North Carolina for 2006 by the Mountain Express, O'Sheeran continues to earn respect from artists and patrons. Sold-out personal shows in Virginia and Asheville have helped him move toward his goals of artistic expression in his unique style of painting.
O'Sheeran says of his work: "I have both a contemporary and eclectic approach to my art. Bold, vibrant colors and recurring designs are the foundations of my paintings, which are often created on found objects and architectural salvage. I love and find inspiration from the ocean and a life spent by the water has infused my art with scenes from the sea. I take pleasure in experimenting with pattern and my paintings exhibit movement from abstract forms to fish scales and feathers. My art comes in all sizes and shapes from corporate size paintings to small personal ones for the home and work space."
