Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Alison McCauley
The Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibition of figurative and portrait based paintings by Alison McCauley at the Guild Gallery, on view May 1 - 26, 2007.
McCauley received her BA in art from the University of North Florida in 1975. She moved to Summerville, SC, in 1994 where she operated a pottery studio from 1995-2003. During this period she became widely known for her creative and expressive face vases and sculptural pots.
McCauley's art background and clay work have prepared her well for the transition into figurative painting. Through the use of strong contrasts of light and shadow, her paintings are a provocative portrayal of people and images from everyday life. She enjoys using a rich palette of bright and subtle colors to excite a variety of responses.
Also on view at the gallery is work from the other 30 juried artists of the gallery. Current paintings are on display through May 19, 2007.
