Haywood County Arts Council in Waynesville, NC, Features Show by Cherokee Artists

The Haywood County Arts Council in Waynesville, NC, will present the exhibit, Bridging Generations: Traditional and Contemporary Cherokee Art, on view in Gallery 86 from May 4 through June 2, 2007.
See the work of master woodcarvers, white oak and river can basket weavers, silversmiths, and sculpture artists representing four generations of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Artists include Butch and Louise Goings, Bud Smith, Joel Queen, General Grant, John Grant, Melissa Maney, Betty Maney, Geraldine Walkingstick, Polly Rattler, Lori Reed, Tara McCoy, and Davy Arch.
Honoring the Elders, we will have a collection of antique Cherokee artwork on display. The purpose of this exhibit is to promote the evolution of Cherokee art, from traditional to modern, as being represented by the incredible art community in Cherokee, NC. There will be planned Saturday demonstrations on May 5, 12, 19 and 26.
