All three exhibits will be on view through June 27, 2007.
Michael Pendergrass
For a third year, the Theatre Art Galleries (TAG) is proud to present Artists Among Us, an exhibit by local artists who are our neighbors and friends. This year's collection features the striking work of self-taught painter Michael Pendergrass. Pendergrass has worked with TAG during ART DAY festivals and was a featured artist at the High Point Museum. He works at Polo-Ralph Lauren and is a member of the African American Atelier in Greensboro, NC.
Also on display is the fine photography of Joanna Frazier Hudson. She has made her living in commercial art and film and as a teacher and lecturer. Her work includes both color and black & white photographs, including some hand-colored images.
Also included is Doyle Early, a High Point attorney who works in pastels with an impressionist flair. He studied with Melanie Godwin and Robin Rowe.
Rebecca Graham Lasley, the Director of Mendenhall
Plantation, is a skilled watercolor painter who studied art in
college. She has recently taken up the brush again and is exploring
facets of digital design.
Our collection also features the infrared photography of Rocky
Hurley. Hurley, who works for Buck's Communications and is contracted
to North State Communications, was first called to TAG to assist
with internet trouble when we discovered that he was a serious
photographer.
Capping the exhibit will be sculpture work by High Point resident and well known bronze sculptor David Dowdy.
The High Point Fine Art Guild takes the Main Gallery with their popular Summer Juried Show: North Carolina People, Places and Things.
The Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery celebrates the work of some of our younger local artists with the third annual Young Artists Among Us exhibition. The featured young artists include Gwyn Erikson (age 4), Mitchell Falkiewicz (age 5), Maggie Marsh (age 6), Rose Longuillo (age 10), Marston Councill (age 10), Kennedy Thompson (age 12), Kathryn Stroup (age 13), Holly Dupree (age 12), Kelsey Joyce (age 15), Betsy Hwang (age 15), Christopher Lineberry (age 16), and Lindsay Golden (age 17). This program is sponsored by Starnes Art Company.
TAG is a non-profit visual art organization located in the High Point Theatre that presents quality exhibitions and educational programs for the community.
