WICKWIRE Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Jim Carson

WICKWIRE fine art/folk art in Historic Downtown Hendersonville, NC, will present the exhibit Fresh Paint, featuring all new works by Jim Carson. The exhibit will be on view from May 1 - 31, 2007, at its 329 North Main Street location.

Carson has been painting in both acrylic and oil for about 20 years. He prefers painting en plein air. His work has been described by art critics as "fresh and painterly". There is a true simplicity and freshness to his paintings that distinguish them and give them a character of their own.

For 31 years, Carson was the managing partner in the law firm of Chambless, Higdon, and Carson, in Macon, GA, where he primarily practiced in business, banking, and real estate law. During the last 10 years of his practice, he was a certified mediator. Carson thinks that the resolution of the issues in a mediation can be similar to resolving the problems in a painting. "Cutting through to the essence, simplifying, and finding balance work both in painting and mediation."

Although always interested in drawing, even at an early age, Carson's interest in painting lay dormant while law school, marriage, raising a family, and building a law practice took precedent. About 20 years ago, his wife, Beth, gave him a painting course for Christmas with Marianne Dunn and he has never looked back. This journey culminated in 2003 when Carson retired from law practice, moved to Saluda, NC, and now paints full time.

In addition to being influenced by Marianne Dunn, Carson has been influenced through various workshops with Ken Auster, Kevin MacPherson, Kenn Backhaus, and John Budicin. He now gives his own workshops in Saluda in the Spring and Fall of the year and maintains a website (www.jimcarson.net) for viewing his paintings.

Carson has won awards in every juried show that he has entered, and his works show in banks, corporate and private galleries from California to Florida. He is represented by WICKWIRE fine art/folk art.

Since 1998, WICKWIRE fine art/folk art ". . . where the heart finds art" has provided exceptional events and art choices. WICKWIRE offers original paintings, American handmade craft, furniture, photography, stunning jewelry and more in two locations at 330 and 329 N. Main Street.
