Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, Offers New Student Shows for Spring
Winthrop University Galleries at Winthrop University
in Rock Hill, SC, celebrates a successful completion of its 2006-07
exhibition/academic year with its final exhibits including: 19th
Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, on view in the Rutledge
Gallery, through June 22, 2007, and MFA Thesis Exhibitions,
featuring works by Kathleen Burke and Kim Dick in the Elizabeth
Dunlap Patrick Gallery, on view through June 22, 2007.
Tonya Cribb, Gallery Director at Brenau University in Gainesville,
GA, juried this year's annual undergraduate juried exhibition.
Cribb is a 1997 graduate of Winthrop's Department of Art and Design.
During her undergraduate experience at Winthrop, Cribb served
as a gallery assistant and went on to receive her MA in Museum
Science from Texas Tech University. After Tech she worked as an
arts administrator and director of the Dorothy Page Museum in
Wasilla, AK.
The 19th Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition will be a significant departure from undergrad exhibitions in past years as Cribb will select only 25 works from disciplines including painting, drawing, sculpture, jewelry/metals, photography, ceramics, illustration, printmaking, graphic design and interior design. Participating student-artists will also be required to compose an artist statement about each of their entries. Regardless of the juror's final selection, all works entered into the exhibition will be available for purchase by Gallery Patrons.
Kim Dick
Kathleen Burke
In the Elizabeth Dunlap Patrick Gallery, the paintings of Kathleen Burke and the sculpture of Kim Dick will provide a glimpse into their MFA thesis and the years they have spent at Winthrop growing into mature artists.
