Blue Ridge Arts Council Offers Art Events for Seneca, SC's Memorial Day

Historic Downtown Seneca, SC, is launching this new festival titled "Meet and 3" which combines "Arts on the Alley", with the Education Foundation of Oconee County to produce this highly anticipated event. This Memorial Day festival, held on May 24 & 25, 2008, will include numerous admission-free events including the art displays on Ram Cat Alley and Townville Street, a cruise-in, and day-long music including headliner Billy Joe Royal. The education foundation is also sponsoring a South Carolina Barbeque Cook off competition. Tickets for prize-winning barbecue from the top cookers in the region cost $10 each.

Since it began in Apr. 2003, 'Arts on the Alley" has become an acclaimed cultural event in historic downtown Seneca. Produced and directed by the Ram Cat Alley Merchants Association, Arts on the Alley showcases and promotes local and regional artists and performers including many members of the Blue Ridge Arts Council. The 2008 festival will include more than 40 artists from NC, GA and SC.

The Blue Ridge Arts Council will again participate in "Arts on the Alley" with a two-day "Make It & Take It" for the kids and with member artists painting on the alley. The "Make It & Take It" is an event where children participate in making an art project free of charge. BRAC provides the staff and volunteer instructors along with the materials. It offers the kids an opportunity to explore art and make a wonderful gift for someone they love. This year's event is made possible by the Blue Ridge Electric Coop, Duke Energy Corp., and Fort Hill Gas.
