Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn
on Hilton Head Island, SC, Features Works by Apple Pie Painters
The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, SC, will feature the exhibit, Apple Pie Painters: Inspired by Honey Horn, in the Hilton Head Regional Healthcare Temporary Exhibit Gallery from May 8 through Sept 2, 2008.
The six original members of the Apple Pie Painters: Vickie Ebbers, Mary Kelly, John Norlander, Liz Rufenacht, Barb Snow and Peter Hadfalvi are celebrating their 10th year of painting together. Through those years there have been many transitions in mediums and styles. Now numbering nine, with the addition of Marilyn Dizikes, Judy McElynn and Alex Sharma three years ago; each of the Apple Pies used their own distinctive style, medium and materials to capture their personal impressions of Honey Horn and its environs. The exhibit ranges from photos and photographic collage to watercolor and oil pastel, whether it's abstraction in acrylic or realism in an oil landscape the images transmit a personal interpretation of a time and / or place Honey Horn occupies in our community and its history.
"We are especially excited about this opportunity because The Coastal Discovery Museum's beautiful new gallery space is a perfect venue for this offering. The Museum's mission and our painterly focus is the every day beauty of our Lowcountry surroundings, its history and the inspiration we derive from it."
