Hawthorne Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC, Features works by Raul Montero and George Schober

Hawthorne Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC, is presenting an exhibition of recent works by painter Raul Montero and photographer George Schober. The exhibition will be on view through June 14, 2008.

Cuban native, Raul Montero, arrived in the United States in 1998 and settled in Winston-Salem in 2001. Coming from a small village in the mountains of Cuba, he studied painting and art education in Havana. For several years, he has worked with the theme of "Human Groups". Hawthorne Gallery is excited to present a new body of work focusing on landscapes. Montero's paintings engage the viewer with bold colors and patterns, and his viewpoints are always intriguing with a finely tuned handling of composition.

"Now I find myself here, in a small city in North Carolina, whose landscape and people remind me of the village where I was born and thus help me to prevail," said Montero.

Montero's painting has been well-received and collected since arriving in the Piedmont, and he has shown at SECCA, Delta Fine Arts Center, Greenhill Center in Greenboro, NC, and Farvan International Gallery in Charlotte, NC.

George Schober is an award winning, fine art photographer from Winston-Salem. He works in both color and black and white and will be showing new landscapes and botanical images. Some of his new photos are uniquely printed on aluminum and have been recently shown to acclaim at a Washington, DC, gallery. "I have always viewed and interpreted the many wonders of our world from a visual perspective. Photography has allowed me to express and present these vignettes of beauty, mystery, and interest in a medium that is easily shared with others."

Hawthorne Gallery is located at 1281 West Fourth St., Winston-Salem in an historic home originally designed by Pennsylvania architect Charles Barton Keene of Reynolda House fame. Hawthorne Gallery exhibits are in collaboration with Idlewild House. The two businesses offer a combination of fine design in 7,000 square feet of beautiful well-lit space in which to showcase its unique exhibits. More than 20 regional artists exhibit their fine art in this architectural treasure. The spacious galleries feature contemporary interior design with fine furnishings and accessories by Idlewild House. The gallery also sells gifts, cards, glass, wood, and jewelry.
