Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC,
Offers Works by Kay Hutchison & Pauline Seretakis
Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present, Breathing Space, featuring landscape, still life and figurative works by Kay Hutchison and Pauline Seretakis, on view from May 2 - 30, 2008.
Originally from of Raleigh, NC, Kay Hutchison received a degree in Fine Arts from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. She graduated with honors, and then went on to study painting in Cortona, Italy, as part of the University of Georgia's 'Studies Abroad Program." A tour of Europe in 2007 inspired a series of original oil paintings depicting the sights and sounds of England, France, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Hutchison fluently combines vivid color with soft lines to capture the transient nature of life. Her works in still life offer the same vibrant palette, loose compositional style, and the nuanced detail, which has brought such acclaim to her murals.
Commissions of note include window displays for the famed department stores, Bergdorf Goodman's and Bloomingdale's in New York City. Other projects include a twenty-foot mural, created for the United States Military Academy at West Point, and in her native North Carolina, a series of posters for the Raleigh Arts Council.
Born in Williamsburg, VA, Pauline Seretakis spent her formative years living in Athens, Greece. Since 2002, she has focused on land-scape and seascape paintings depicting nature and life in Greece and Italy, celebrating her Mediterranean culture. A prolific artist, Seretakis' compositions exude vivid color and energy.
