Theatre Art Galleries in High Point,
NC, Offers New Exhibitions
Theatre Art Galleries in High Point, NC, are offering several new exhibitions, which are on view through June 28, 2008.
The High Point Fine Art Guild returns to Theatre Art Galleries (TAG) with its annual juried showcase. The best of the group's work will appear in the Main Gallery alongside juried selections from the 2008 Silver Arts program - a celebration of the creative expression of seniors throughout North Carolina.
Upstairs, TAG hosts the art of our friends and neighbors in Artists Among Us. TAG's selection includes still-life and portraiture in acrylic by Carol Cox, and landscapes and figurative work in oil by Carol Sams. Painter Ferol Holladay provides "plein-air" influenced land and seascapes, photographer Brian Wright offers a look at life in Mongolia, and Norris Greenlee presents a selection of color photographs taken throughout his years as a photographer.
Maryanna Williams -------------------------------------------------------------------
Will South
Gallery B is the site of Flowers and Clouds, an harmonic collection of bold graphics by Maryanna Williams complemented with sumptuous cloud images rendered in charcoal and graphite by Will South. South, an accomplished artist and art scholar, currently serves as Curator of Collections for Greensboro's Weatherspoon Art Museum and is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Art at UNCG. Williams, a native of Boston, relocated to Greensboro in the early 90's and focused on color pencil and pastel pieces, though her more recent work includes reduction linoleum cuts.
And TAG's Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery features placement winners from the Fourth Annual Young Artists Among Us program. This competition, sponsored annually by Starnes Art Company of High Point, promotes the work of artists from ages four through 19. Placement winners will be honored on May 10, 2008.
