Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, Hosts Two Artists Through July 1

Gallery C in Raleigh, NC will host two exhibits through July 1: Henry Isaacs: pastels of Ocracoke in the Main Gallery and Kenn Kotara: recent paintings and constructions in the Solo Gallery.

Henry Isaacs personifies the plein air painter. He has a deep and abiding love of the landscape and his works express not only the visions he sees but also his feelings inspired by the time of day, the wind, the temperature. The resulting artwork is a deeply personal expression of a place and time. With his love of travel and nose for beauty, it was only a matter of time before Isaacs discovered the Outer Banks of NC. This new body of work, done primarily on Ocracoke Island, promises to be some of Isaacs' most inspired art to date. This is his third exhibition at Gallery C.

Kenn Kotara was born, raised, and educated in the Cajun country of Louisiana. Working in acrylic, oil, and mixed media, Kotara creates bold paintings based on subjects close to his heart. In the manner of Richard Diebenkorn, Kotara abstracts his subjects, using large areas of color dissected by strong lines that divide up the canvas into irregular sections. The NC Mountains near his current home in Asheville have provided him with a wealth of subject matter. His love of music and musical instruments is another source for his large abstracts. Much of Kotara's work has a mathematical order to it that very much reflects the structure of music. This will be his introductory show at Gallery C.
