June Issue 2000
City Gallery Features Exhibit by Alvin B. Glen in North Charleston, SC
The North Charleston Cultural Arts Program presents works by Alvin B. Glen at the North Charleston City Art Gallery in North Charleston, SC. The show of Mixed Media Drawings and Prints will be on display from June 1 - 30.
The exhibit will feature pastels, mixed media drawings, hand pulled lithographs and prints made with other printing methods. Glen's works are about common people, ideas and emotions and include a lot of symbolism. While his images are recognizable, they are subtle, allowing the viewer to become slowly, yet emotionally involved. The versatility in his pieces include textured collages and prints which reflect dreamlike images in a concretely nonexistent, yet familiar setting. Glen is currently an art teacher at Woodland High School, in Dorchester, SC.
