Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Features Artist-of-the-Month

The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, will be featuring Parrish Rhodes as the June artist-of-the-month. For this exhibit, titled Asheville's Working Women, Rhodes has painted sixteen watercolor portraits of Asheville working women.

Rhodes taught herself to paint while living on the Isle of Wight. Her bold colors and loose style were something definitely new to the island's holdover Victorian culture, and she found herself swamped with opportunities to show her work. She participated in eight to 12 shows a year, had three one-woman exhibitions, and exhibited in juried shows in England and on the continent. Rhodes has exhibited in Australia, Canada, Germany, England, and New Zealand in addition to the US.
