Independent Spoleto Spirit at Tiemaker's Gallery in Charleston, SC
Tiemaker's Gallery in Charleston, SC, presents new works and an artistic spirit during the Spoleto Festival and through June 30. New and recent works by artists Matt Overend, Dorothy Doubleday, David Edwards, and Emily Jenkins will by complemented by musical entertainment and outdoor activities during the festival.
Artist Matt Overend will feature recent oil paintings and paper cut-outs representing figures, landscapes, abstract non-objectives, and even sculpture. Overend is an artist from the Lowcountry, who lives and works in Smoaks, SC. Sculptor Dorothy Doubleday splits her time between McClellanville, SC, and Stonington, ME, and works in ceramics. Her sculptures combine whimsy and lore to create unique sculptural pieces, with a classical and folkloric edge. David Edwards is an accomplished photographer whose black and white photography includes a variety of subjects including nudes, landscapes, and street photography. Emily Jenkins is an oil painter whose bright abstract style creates a pleasing explosion of color and stroke.
