NC, will featuring acrylic paintings by Cynthia L. Wilson, NEWS,
PWS, through June, 30, 2002.
Wilson is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society,
Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, American Artists Professional
League and others. Her work has been featured in Artists Magazine
and books on painting. Wilson has been listed in "Who's Who
in American Art" for 10 years and her work is in collections
of the Housatonic Museum of Art, Fairfield University, Georgia
Tech, and well-known corporations headquartered in the northeast.
She was awarded a Regional Artists, Project Grant and, in the
spring of 2001 was awarded by the National Society of Painters
in Casein and Acrylic at an annual juried exhibition in New York
City. Wilson has taught "Acrylics with Attitude" through
Cedar Mountain workshops and in Mar., 2002, instructed "Advanced
Acrylic" through Wickwire Gallery's Winter Arts Exploration
Workshop series.
Wilson is a full-time painter. She earned a BFA in Graphic Design
from Auburn University and spent years as a graphic designer.
Today her work reflects her experience as an artist - her observations
and emotions. Her artwork is filled with color and light. The
actual process of painting for her is tied more to personal viewpoint
and inner vision than to technique. Wilson believes you must strengthen
the "bones" of a painting for the surface and color
to grow. Once she has an idea and begins to paint, the work takes
on a life of its own. In her group of paintings about water she
tells a story of her feelings about nature and the emotional tie
she feels for the mountains of Western NC. One can almost hear
the crashing of waterfalls or feel the cool shade her work portrays.
"Time passes," reflects Wilson, "and seasons change
as effortlessly as reflections on the surface of the water."
